REV-HARD MIDNIGHT MAYHEM BACK THIS FRIDAY

This Friday, September 3 is the third Rev-Hard Midnight Mayhem of the season at Cordova Dragway Park. The Rev-Hard Midnight Mayhem is an event for street legal cars and trucks from 11 PM until 3 AM. "The event is designed for all types of street legal vehicles with fun runs plus a more serious approach with the domestic and import shootouts" mentioned Scott Gardner.

Other activities include the popular Flag Girl and Burn Out contests. In addition Mobile Wiring will be in attendance conducting the dB Drags for in-vehicle sound systems.

Gates open at 5:30 PM Friday with the Rev-Hard Fun Night and open racing for everyone from 6 PM until 10 PM followed by Midnight Mayhem beginning at 11 AM.

RACER'S MOTHER & GRANDMOTHER PASSES

The Mother of Cordova Dragway Park racer Joe Slininger and Grandmother of racer Steve Slininger passed away on Sunday, August 29. Visitation for Mary Slininger is Wednesday, Sept 1 from 4 PM - 7 PM at the Esterdahl Mortuary in Moline. Funeral Services are on Thursday, Sept 2, at 11 AM at the Funeral Home. If you have been waiting for the right time to attend an event at Cordova Dragway (or any outdoor venue for that matter), it is time. The forecast is spectacular with temperatures predicted to be in the low to mid 80’s throughout the event.

“Action is the key word for this event” said Scott Gardner. “We have the most spectacular event in the County with all the best features out there.” Included in the line-up is the wild, mind blowing Extreme Machine Jet Semi, the Chattanooga Cho-Cho, the Cannonball Express and the Rock-n-Roll Thunder Jet Cars and more.

The O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing is also very well known for the Nitro action. Those cars include the DRO Nostalgia Funny Cars presented by Lucas Oil, the NHRA AA-Funny Cars, the NHRA Top Fuel Dragsters and the Nostalgia Top Fuel cars as well.

Of course national racing legend and local standout Arnie “The Farmer” Beswick from Morrison, Illinois will also be back to take on Animal Jim, the Shake, Rattle and Run ’57 Chevy and the Grocery Getter. Plus the Super Stock Mafia with their wheelstanding factory hot rods plus Nostalgia Super Stocks will be on hand.

The popular Paddy Wagon and Chevy Rebellion Wheelstanders will make their full quarter-mile passes on two wheels plus a spectacular Fireworks display.

With twelve cars pre-entered for the O'Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing in the Drag Racing Online Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car class presented by Lucas Oil, it's bound to be one heck of a show. "This class just keeps getting stronger and more entertaining" said Scott Gardner. "Several of the Funny Cars can now post elapsed times in the 5's at around 240 mph" he continued.

Expected to attend are Funny Cars from as far away as California and Texas to go head to head against the best cars from the Midwest. "We have heard the we might see the original Blue Max and the Candies and Hughes Cars" mentioned Gardner "these were the top names and cars of the 80's and it would be honor to have them here."

Qualifying for the Nitro Nostalgia Funny Car "Elite 8 car Field" will begin on Friday evening, August 27 as part of the World Series "Night of Thrills" show. A second and final qualifying session is set for early Saturday afternoon. Fans who attend the Friday Night show and arrive in the early afternoon on Saturday will not only see two awesome qualifying sessions but also round one action of this powerful class.

Q: When is sportsman racing?

A: Sportsman Racing is conducted daily Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Q: Is Food and Beverage available at the track?

A: Yes, we have concessions as well as outside food vendors. Our concession prices are very competitive and the food is good!

Q: Do you have camping at the track?

A: Yes, we have a camping area on the Pit Side. You will need to purchase a multiday pass to camp, however, there is no camping fee. Please remember this is a primitive area and has no electrical or water hook-ups.

WATCH NHRA LUCAS OIL SPORTSMAN SERIES THIS SUNDAY, AUG 22 FOR A SPECIAL SEGMENT

The NHRA Race Day program that will air this Sunday, August 22 at 10 AM (CST) will have a special segment mentioning our three race tracks (Cordova, Eddyville & Cedar Falls).  The segment was recorded from the NHRA National Open at Cedar Falls Raceway in early August.

Make sure you tune in for the show. It should be noted, that we have no idea of the segment's content, so this should be fun for everyone!

SPORTSMAN CLASS DETAILS ANNOUNCED FOR WORLD SERIES OF DRAG RACING, AUGUST 26-29

The O'Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing is known for the great professional racing and show, but also pays homage to the tradition that started it all over 57 years ago, crowning the best of sportsman drag racing in true open event competition. Nearly 400 sportsman race teams participate annually at the World Series.

With so many teams participating at the event, it is very important to review the schedule to get everyone on the same page. Please remember that the World Series of Drag Racing is a multi-day event that culminates with the sportsman finale classes on Sunday, August 29. Basically, Friday and Saturday are designed to be practice days for Sunday's Sportsman Championship event, with optional Hi-Roller and Jr races each day. More...

SCHEDULE CHANGES AT CDP

Cordova Dragway Park has announced a couple of schedule changes for 2010. These changes affect events in September and October. The first change concerns the Midwest Top Sportsman Series (MWTS). Their class will now be included with the OktoberFest of Drag Racing event on Saturday and Sunday, September 25 & 26.

The True Street Midwest World Finals has been cancelled on Saturday and Sunday, October 2 & 3. Replacing the True Street World Finals will be a new “LOW ROLLER” Event on Saturday, Oct 2 that includes Pro ET, Super ET, True Street, Trophy, Junior Dragster and Test-n-Tune. “These racers deserve a much needed day in the spotlight” said Scott Gardner. 

Cordova Dragway Park will not be open on Sunday, Oct 3 as we will be attending the Power Wheelstanding Event at Byron Dragway.  For the “Low Roller” event details click here.
