Points Chase Heats Up As Mid-Season Approaches

With the Mid-Season points race (#6) coming this weekend, the points chases in all the classes are starting to heat up. Some leaders remained, while others fell a few spots. The second half of the season should prove to be as exciting as the first.

In Super Pro, Defending Champion Rick Verklers win last Saturday night moved him up five places to a tie in second place with Jeff Weets behind current leader Pat McGlynn. Ken Barsema broke into the top ten, a five-way tie for 10th, from the 19th position, only one round behind wife Kari currently in a three-way tie for 7th with Delvin Shepard and Kelly McClung. Joe Klemme, Joel Smith, and Anthony Layne round out the top ten in the 4th, 5th, and 6th spots.

In Pro ET, Steve Slininger maintains his lead over Sabrina Niemann and #3 Bradley Green. Stephanie Guenther moved up to fourth with the Thunderbird tied with ‘Slo-Joe” DeScamps. Jason Huggins, Bob Dixon, Brian Barten, Steve Klemme (driving the “Dumpster Dan” Pontiac), Rick House, and Jeff Freeman round out the top ten.

In Super ET, Jay Wilson moved into the #1 spot with a two round lead over Joe Slininger. Jenny Wilson, (Jay’s sister) broke into the top ten (#10) to “Wilson Bookend” the class. Travis O’Bryan, Phillip Bielema, Jim Petersen, Tim Mosley, Chad Short, Bruce Hunter Jr., and Nick Lauff fill in spots 3-9.

True Street remained the only “dominated” class as current points leader Chris Walters now has an eight round lead over #2 Jeff Bennett and Elmer Myers. Jerry Lindle drops to number four, with Denny Rankin, Sarah Weets, Tim Lauff, Maggie Siegler, Dave Penderson, and Mark Anderson finishing the top ten.

In Pro Bike, Bruce Damewoods’ win Saturday moved him into #1 over five time Pro Bike Champion, Tom Klemme. Jeff Morgan moved into a tie for third with Jake Verscha. Last years runner-up and Bracket Finals Champion Kurt Clark and newcomer Michael Hinricks round out the standings.

In Super Jr/D, former Novice Junior Champion Stephanie Wagoner took the runner-up to move into the number 1 spot over Emily Weets. Gage Curry’s win Saturday broke him into the top ten. (#7). Lakin Curry also broke into the top ten (#10) with “Physco” Sydney Even, Brandon Loomis, past Novice Champion Drew Beale, Ashley Guenther, and Taylor Troxell filling in the rest of the top ten.

In Novice Junior, Olivia Humphrey stands alone in first with a one point lead over close rival Nate Loussaert. Dalton Beale picked up his first career win to move into third place and “Mad Mal” Mallory Michaelis rounds out the class in fourth.

The next points bracket race is this Saturday, June 16th, with time runs starting at 3pm.
