TIMING UP AND RUNNING

PLANS SET FOR THIS WEEKEND

After a power transformer exploded last Friday night near the end of Midnight Mayhem causing timing problems, Cordova Dragway is now up and running again and has plans set for this weekend. "We found that when the power transformer exploded it send electrical impulses through the ground into the ground wire and into the Compulink computer and caused havoc inside" said Track Operator Scott Gardner. JJ Koehler from FSS Electronics did a complete assessment of the system. Once he found no issues with the track wiring he concentrated on the computer itself. "We determined the hit came in through the back, a very rare occurrence" said Koehler. "Several boards were toast so we sent the system overnight to Bob Brockmeyer at Compulink for his assessment and repairs" he continued.

"We were only able to get running because of the kindness of Byron Dragway" mentioned Gardner. "BJ and Ron went out of their way to get us their back-up Compulink computer" he continued.

"There is a chance Compulink could have the CDP computer back with the appropriate repairs made by Saturday" concluded Gardner. The cost of repairs for this incident is likely to be in the thousands. Meantime, less the digital readouts at the scoreboards, everything is working accurately with the backup Byron Dragway Compulink .

Along with Byron Dragway, CDP thanks the racers who were in attendance last Saturday for their patience and understanding in this matter. Gates open Friday at 5:30 PM with racing 6 till 10 PM. Then Saturday at 2 PM with time trials at 3 PM and eliminations at 7 PM.
