Low elapsed time in Top Fuel was made by Mike Strasburg in the B&J Transmission entry. On his first pass, he stopped the clocks at 4.725 at 296.37 mph. Looking to re-set the current track record of 4.60 on his second run the engine failed slowing his entry to a 5.04 at only 235 mph.

The 54th O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing was a Grand Slam by almost all accounts. Great racers, great performances and awesome weather greeted the huge throng of fans.
In Nitro Funny Car, Jeff Arend in his CSK sponsored car was the man to beat as he blasted to a 5.03 at 276 mph in the opening frame and completed the event with a 5.22 at 277 mph. The next closest competitor was teammate Del Worsham who ran consistent 5.30’s pitching the blower belt in both passes. In Nostalgia Top Fuel, Roger Lechtenberg produced two five second runs with a best of 5.992. Two of the Nostalgia Nitro Funny Car drivers ran career bests , but low ET of the event went to Rob Bruce with a 6.08.
