NEW EVENTS ON 2008 CDP SCHEDULE

The Cordova Dragway Park 2008 schedule is highlighted with several new events. “Each year we look for new opportunities for our racers, fans and facility” said Scott Gardner. “It appears that 2008 will have many new and exciting events” continued Gardner.

The biggest new event is the addition of an NHRA Hot Rod Heritage (HHR) Series - East, on Friday and Saturday, June 20-21. The HRR is an “affiliate” event of the Hot Rod Series. The event will be officially known as the AC Delco NostalgiaFest presented by RM Distributing. NHRA and Cordova Dragway Park will be releasing additional information soon concerning classes of competition, ticket prices and more.

Saturday and Sunday, June 14-15 Cordova Dragway Park will host and event called “Set It Off Sunday.” This event will feature a North Vs South format and will include bracket racing. More information will be forthcoming.

Then on Saturday, June 19 a big money bracket race will be held at Cordova Dragway Park. The event will be known as “The 10 for 10K” and is open for Box and No-Box racers that run at least 10.99 and quicker. In addition and second chance race plus a foot brake class will be contested.

The NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event returns on Friday and Saturday, August 1-2, with Sunday, August 3 as a bonus day (and rain date if needed). New to the event in 2008 will be the powerful Lucas Oil Dragsters and Funny Cars. The Dragster class is made up of both Supercharged Alcohol and Nitro Injected Dragsters. Qualifying for the Dragsters and Funny Cars will be Friday evening and Saturday morning with eliminations for all classes Saturday afternoon and evening.

The 55th O’Reilly Auto Parts World Series of Drag Racing is set for Friday thru Sunday, August 22-24. “We are in ongoing negotiations with a couple of very prominent nitro teams” mentioned Gardner. “I know the 55th event will go down as one of the best ever”

The popular Top Sportsman and Top Dragster Series will return in 2008, taking the place of the Frantic 14. Details on the structure and pay-out will be announced soon.

Drag News Magazine returns with the All-Star Series to be held in conjunction with the AC Delco NostalgiaFest on Saturday, June 21.

The Junior Halloween Nationals also returns and is expected to draw nearly 500 race teams on Oct 3-5. The AMC Nationals is set for Saturday Sept 13. This will be their 30th anniversary celebration.

The Points Bracket Series will feature 14 events and there will be four Midnight Mayhems. An additional “Big Money” bracket race will be held on Saturday, Sept 27 with the OktoberFest of Drag Racing and finally the Midwest Bracket Alliance returns as two more racers will win huge product packages good to make their race car over.

Look for 2008 to be one of the biggest and best seasons at CDP. We will continue to update everyone on events and classes as details become available.
