KLEMME WINS SUMMIT RACING SERIES NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

(Pomona, CA) ...... Tom Klemme took the Summit Racing Series National Championship in the Bike Class at the Automotive Club of Southern California NHRA Finals Sunday, November 16, 2008. Klemme outlasted the best seven bike racers in the Country as each NHRA Division was represented by their respective Race of Champions contestant.

Klemme representing Cordova Dragway Park and NHRA Division 5 methodically moved through the first two rounds of competition to face Division three's Chad Isley. In that final round, Kleeme pushed Isley into a break-out run to score the bike championship. Cordova Dragway Park track representative Dan Driscoll who attended the event said "it was something very special to see Tom recognized as a National Champion. He is at the pinnacle of the bike racers class and proved it today as he was honored with all the other NHRA World Champions."

As the National Champion, Klemme will receive $5,000, A NHRA Gold Card, a championship trophy, and a jacket. In addition all bracket qualifiers who attended the event were guaranteed a minimum of $3,500 for travel expenses.

WILKERSON IS THE CHAMPION
IN OUR EYES

Although Tim Wilkerson didn't win the NHRA Powerade Championship, his style and efforts make him a champion in our eyes. "If you don't know Tim personally, you can sense from his TV interviews that he is a class act" said Cordova Dragway Park Track Operator Scott Gardner.

Wilkerson who led the NHRA Powerade Funny Car Points most of the season, lost the championship in what some call a controversial "playoff format" in which the points are re-set for the final races of the season. Wilkerson who had a uncharacteristic red-light in round one of the final event, finished second in the Powerade Championship Points.

"Tim is an awesome man and competitor" mentioned Gardner. "It is an absolute joy to work with him, his family and crew and we hope that he will be able to once again attend major events at our tracks in 2009."

MOTHER NATURE WINS LAST RACE
TRACK CLOSED FOR SEASON

With high temperatures only expected in the 30's for this weekend (November 15-16) Cordova Dragway Park will not be open. "We decided to call it a year" said Scott Gardner. "Mother nature hasn't gave us a decent shot at racing last weekend or for this weekend." he continued.

Cordova Dragway Park does plan to re-open for the HANGOVERFEST on Thursday, January 1st. "We lost the Hangoverfest last year as the snow storms were relentless; hopefully that will not be the case for this year." mentioned Gardner. Additional information will be forthcoming on Hangoverfest event.

The management and staff of Cordova Dragway Park extend a thank you to all racers, crew members, fans and sponsors that continue to support our facility. We are looking ahead to an exciting 2009!

GREEN SEE’S GREEN WITH
RACE OF CHAMPIONS WIN

Rich Green from Fulton, Illinois scored a win in the Cordova Dragway Park Race of Champions Shoot-out this past Sunday, September 28 to earn some cold hard “green” cash.  After a successful season in the Pro E.T. Class, he qualified for the Shoot-out by winning the Pro E.T. title. Green will take home a nice pay-out (awarded at the annual awards banquet) and also scored a 2009 CDP Gold Card which virtually entitles him to a season of free racing.

Coming into the shoot-out, Green was not the favored racer to win. Fulton’s Ken Barsema had been nearly unstoppable all year with his dragster and was considered to be the odd’s on favorite. However, Green stopped Barsema in the first round using a better reaction time to take the win.

In the championship final round, Green defeated Chris Walters who was the Super ET Class Champion.

BARS PRODUCTS & RENEGADE AS TITLE SPONSORS

A new addition to the 12th annual Bar’s Leak Rislone Products Junior Drag Racing Halloween Nationals presented by Renegade Trailers will be the new location and management of the event. Eddyville Raceway Park (Oskaloosa, IA) will be the new host facility for the event coming up on October 3, 4 and 5, 2008. “We are delighted with the new direction for the Halloween Nationals" commented Laurie Silvey of the GoFast Group, partner of the event series since its conception in 1996, "Eddyville Raceway is a terrific, picturesque facility. The 1/8 mile track with shutdown and return road features that are very junior friendly. Eddyville's many park-like pit facilities will make for a great host track for years to come."

The success of the 2007 Halloween Nationals event is credited in part to Scott and Laura Gardner or Cordova Dragway Park. Eddyville Raceway Park is part of the Gardner owned facilities and the chemistry of event success will continue at Eddyville. Laurie and Todd Silvey will take a promotional support status with the annual event creating the promotional work with their GoFastgroup.com agency.

“We enjoyed hosting the Halloween Nationals at Cordova Dragway Park in 2007” said Scott Gardner. “However, now is a good time to move the event to Eddyville Raceway as it’s more centrally located for many racers and the weather tends to be a bit better in the later part of the year.” He continued. The traditional All-Junior event known as the JuniorFest of Drag Racing is likely to return to Cordova in the Summer of 2009.

The entire management of the our facilities would like to formally thank Todd and Laurie Silvey for all the dedication and hard work they have poured into the Halloween Nationals and Junior Drag Racing in Particular” Gardner stated. “Gerald Kramer at Eddyville will roll out the red carpet for this event and will continue with the tradition of fun and excellence that Todd and Laurie have created.”
